Written by Trent Davis, November 1 2011

I would like to give a big shout to the Veterans we had along with us this week. We couldn't have had a better group of gentlemen. Thanks to the ladies in the kitchen and those of you who also helped them from the outside. There were 11 deer taken all together, If only you could be there to see the smile on these fellows faces. Pure Priceless!!!. Good Job AFL Staff.  Lots of work goes into getting this done year after year.  As well, thank you to some of our newcomers that helped guide this year. (Team Majik). I am a War Veteran myself and I am honored to be a part of this organization!!

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You to Ron, Brian T, Bryan F, Keith, George, Andy, David T, Shawn, Dave, Ray and Sam for dedication to our Country and for sharing a week of your life with us. I would have to say we all had a great week. The Veterans were able to harvest 11 deer, went zip lining and finished the week up squirrel hunting for a few hours. A huge THANK YOU to all our staff and all those that helped us through out the week. Lisa and Christy you all did a excellent job with the food in the kitchen. Thanks to Todd and Mary Lindsey, Nancy Coad and the Morgan Grange for their help as well with lunch and dinners. To Majik Outdoors, we are looking forward in teaming up with all of you in the future. We all enjoyed our time together. Even though it is just one week and only eleven people if everyone would just volunteer one way in any capacity in your local area YOU will make a difference in someone's life. We know we did. Words cannot express our gratitude to everyone that has helped America's Freedom Lodge along the way. God Bless each and every one of you. Be safe and THANK YOU again.

It's About that Time...
Written by Rob Pierpont September 8, 2011
...for Ohio's deer archery season to open. It seems like this year has went by so fast. Summer was here and gone, well just about gone. We are heading into our final days for our 2nd Annual Gun Bash which seems to be right on track. We are excited about our 2011 Fall Archery Hunt and meeting new friends. Food plots have been redone, trail cameras up, shooting lanes cleared and shooting house's are ready and waiting to be used. This years list of hunters have a lot of traveler's in it so we wish everyone a safe trip to Ohio. Summer activity in the woods has looked just awesome and the past couple of weeks activity has been, well let's just say, we can't wait for all of you to get here. We have been working on a few things this summer and are trying to get all the ends tied up. We have been speaking about America's Freedom Lodge whenever and wherever we can to help spread our word.  Some exciting thing are to come in our future and we will do our best to keep you all up to date. Also you can check us out on Facebook. It seems to be the fastest way to stay connected to us. Until next time, God bless and be safe. Rob

Spring is Around the Corner!
Written by Rob Pierpont March 24, 2011
Hoping the new year finds everyone well. Yes Spring is around the corner. Here at AFL we have been busy so far this year. AFL has been awarded another grant from The Friends of the NRA which will be put to good use.  The Columbus Deer and Turkey expo went great and the spring turkey hunt is around the corner.  We are working on this years Gun Bash gun list which will be Sept 17th at Heath Eagles again.  ALF is also sponsoring a local 10u girls softball team.  I've been talking with Heartland Wildlife about redoing a couple food plots as well.  We can't forget about the NWTF and Friends of the NRA upcoming banquets. The Pepsi refresh grant gave us a lot of learning experience which was well worth the effort and a BIG thanks to everyone that voted. So as you can see, we are off to a good start for 2011. There are plenty of other doors out there for us to open up to help us to continue to grow. Until next time God Bless and be safe. Rob

2010 Fall Deer Hunt
Written by Rob Pierpont November 2, 2010
Ray, Sam, Terry, Kurt, Don, Nole and Roy, thank you for spending a week with us. It was our pleasure to have been able to give back a little to all of you. Besides the weather not cooperating, I would say a great time was had by all. Thank you to the Round Lake staff that took all of us to the zip line on Friday. Everyone enjoyed it. There was plenty of wildlife activity during the week and we were still able to harvest some deer, even with a weeks worth of a full moon. Like normal, we all ate REALLY well all week and enjoyed our time spent as a group telling stories. Ray, thank you for coloring with my son Owen and making him a swing in the tree. The way it sounds, we might have even made a few bow hunters out of the group which is fantastic! A big thanks to our kitchen staff Lisa, Christy, Nancy Coad, Liz, Tina, Grandma, Kay, Amy, Mary Ann, Dan, the Hinkle's and anyone else I have overlooked. Thanks to all our guides for the week. This week would not be possible without the help of all our volunteers.

A big THANKS to all our family's for your love and support throughout the year and to God above for his guiding hand. Until next time, be safe and God Bless.

Happenings around the A.F.L.
Written by Rob Pierpont August 11, 2010
It has been awhile. There has been allot of things going on this year. We had an exiting time this year at the Columbus Deer and Turkey Expo. We teamed up with Dip n Design again this year and made some new friends. We held a work day where we built 5 more shooting house's as well as Miles Cooper built 2 more for his Eagle Scout project. We had a great time helping out at this years Knox County Veterans Picnic. It is about time to start grooming some trails and clearing some shooting lanes. Food plots are looking good and are need of mowing again. The pictures off the trail camera's look promising have captured several twins. We are closing in on our 1st Annual Gun Bash Sept.18th we are very excited about this event and has been keeping us on our toes. We have been speaking to several different groups about America's Freedom Lodge like Land of Legend Fly Fishers, Vietnam Veterans of America and several different Am-Vet and American Legion's just to name a few. We also have 7 Hunters scheduled thus far for our fall hunt with openings left. So in a nut shell this is just a look at what has been going on and I am sure I have forgotten a few things. Until next time God Bless and Be Safe. Rob

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Written by Rob, Wednesday, December 16, 2009
From everyone at America's Freedom Lodge we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  To all those that have helped us out this year, we would like to THANK YOU again for your support.  The AFL staff has been doing some hunting of their own over the past few weeks, as well as participating in our youth hunt.  We were able to harvest a nice doe and a monster 6 point buck that had a 28 inch spread as well as 12 inch tines.  These were the first deer kill for these two young men so congratulations to them again.  Tom has been busy contacting folks for their support.  We have some BIG plans in the making with Lowe's and Scent Lok for 2010. Watch for further details coming soon.  We are looking forward to another exciting year in 2010.  We will try to have an updated calendar of our upcoming events in January.  Until next time, be safe and God Bless.

Another Successful Hunt
Written by Rob, Tuesday, November 3, 2009
Another year with a successful hunt. We would like to thank Tom, Ted, Bill, Neil, Ora, Paul, Bob, Don and Kurt. Our staff enjoyed all of your company. We hope you all had a great time, We know we did. The weather was perfect even with one rainy day. The deer harvest was great with Bob harvesting a nice 10 point. The woods will never be the same (hehe). We had some good conversation's after dinner and picked up a few pointers to help us along the way. To our staff, job well done.  It takes a team to do what we do in a week even if our new (Horton Crossbows) were, let's just say, not up to par.  To all those that helped us in one way or another, a BIG thank you as well. We are already looking forward to next year. For those of you still out hunting this season, good luck and be safe. God Bless. Rob

Fall Hunt Update
Written by Rob, Wednesday, October 14, 2009
We are in the home stretch for our Fall 2009 Hunt.  Everything is coming together.  The deer activity has been good.  The cooler weather will help as well.   It looks like we will have twelve hunters this year and we are eager to meet each one of you.  The scouting reports have been good, the shooting house's are all in place and plenty of pop blind locations picked out.   I just want to remind all of our hunters not to forget their sleeping bags and pillows and any other necessity items they might need.   We are looking forward to a fun filled week and wish all of you a safe trip into camp.  Until next time be safe and God Bless.

Activity Update
Written by Rob, Tuesday, September 1, 2009
Well with the temp's it feels like fall is in the air with only 26 days till the opening of Archery Season. Our first annual AFL/QDMA/Land of Legend Buck Club Bow shoot went rather well.  I believe we had well over 100 shooters the weather cleared out by mid morning and turned out real well.  We were able to do two food plots demonstrations so that will help out.  We are preparing for our gun raffle over the Labor Day weekend and then for our 2nd Annual Poker Run on Sept 12th.  We have a few more shooting house's to build and we will be on our way for the October Hunt.  I have some trail cameras out and a few Moultrie Feeders.  The deer herd is looking rather good.  We still have a few openings left for the October Hunt so if you are interested PLEASE contact us we would love to have you. Until next time be safe, God Bless. Rob

Activity Update
Written by Rob, Monday June 15, 2009
Well it has been awhile since my last post, probably longer than it should've been. So far, in 2009, it has been a very active year here at AFL. We have our new web site up and running with the help of Christy. We have received our check for our grant monies and our 2009 Spring Turkey was a lot of fun.  We have done a few more food plots, built more stands and shooting houses and set up at The Columbus Deer and Turkey Expo with Dip n Design.  AFL has assisted in the 2009 Knox County Veterans Picnic, held a Hunter Education class and we are also planning a QDMA bow shoot in August. We have a WW 2 Veterans Fishing day planned on Knox Lake on June 27th, and our 2nd Annual Poker Run September 12th. So, as you can see there has been a lot going on so far this year besides all the behind the scene activities. We have added two new board members Trent Davis and Kevin Rodeniser. We will also be adding a staff section to our website as well. AFL has been graciously given the opportunity to add some more acreage to hunt on for our program, so we would like to thank those involved for that. Please stay tuned for more. Like always, stay safe and God Bless. Rob

Happy New Year
Written by Rob, Friday January 23, 2009
Well the new year is here and our deer season is drawing to the end.  Last Sunday we put out a trail camera at a spot I've been hunting at and in two days it has taken 1178 pictures.  Now that is impressive, the bucks seem to be traveling between 10:00-11:30 pm. We have received our first grant of the year it was from The Friends of the NRA, we were very excited to get the news.  We are starting to get ready for our upcoming Spring turkey hunts which will be here pretty fast.  Speaking of turkeys last week I had 32 turkeys come by my blind all being tom's and jakes so we will see if they will still be around in the spring.  We are also having another Hunters Education class on March 4th and our second annual Poker Run on September 12th. We are also currently working on building some more shooting house's and clearing up more trees from last years storm. Well stay warm and be safe, until next time.

Youth Hunt
Written by Rob, Friday January 23, 2009
Monday, 24 November 2008 Well the 2008 youth hunt was Nov 22nd -Nov 23rd. Mark was able to help two young lads in the woods. One being a father son team that was their first hunt ever, and they were able to harvest a button buck. I was able to be out in the woods with my brother in law and his son for their first time together. Unfortunately the deer used the cover of darkness to their advantage, but they both had a great time. We were thankful to be able to introduce younger kids to the woods and let them see first hand what the Lord has made for us to enjoy. I had a nice size hawk fly through and catch a chipmunk, what a site that was. Until next time be safe Rob.

Veteran's Day
Written by Rob, November 11, 2008
The America's Freedom Lodge would like to wish all VETERANS a Happy Veterans day and thank you for your dedication to the service. Without you folks our everyday life would not be possible. Thank you again from the staff at A.F.L.

What a Week!
Written by Rob, November 3, 2008
If we had to sum up last week in one word it would be what a BLAST, from the time everyone arrived Sunday till they departed Saturday, we had non-stop fun.  Monday started the week off with harvesting four deer with three more on Tuesday and three more on Friday. Had a few missed shots on Wednesday and Thursday, but you will have that.  The rut was starting about mid week and boy did we get some film footage of some awesome bucks.  Eric and his film crew captured several hours of video.  Just to be in the woods and encounter deer in their natural habitat what a wonderful sight.  I had the pleasure of sitting and calling with my bunk mate Buck for a few days as well as Shawn and I can not forget Tom "Lt Dan" even though he hails from Michigan. I'm sure the stories are flying this week from our hunters. We all had plenty of fun, fellowship and food and all of those have stories of their own and I could go on and on. On behalf of the America's Freedom Lodge we would like to thank all those that had a hand in making last week possible, and to our hunters Tom, Shawn, Buck, Ed, Mike, Sara, Brian, Paul and Trent thank you for what you all have done for us in the past of ensuring our freedom and your dedication to your branch of the military and for giving us a truly fun filled, unforgettable week.  God bless you all. Stay tuned for pic's. Rob

26 Days
Written by Rob, September 20, 2008
Twenty six days till our archery hunt begins. We here at Americas Freedom Lodge are very excited.  We all have been working and planning hard to make the most of this week with all our Veterans. I myself have been busy with Liz prepairing the menu for the week,Mark and his crew has been cleaning up after the storm a few weeks back. We all are looking forward to a fun filled week, who knows maybe we will be able to fill some deer tags. For those of you who are out hunting now be safe, untill next time God bless. Rob

Moving Right Along
Written by Rob, September 15, 2008
Less than seven weeks til our hunt and all things are moving along very well. Spent this last weekend building a few more permanent stands and hanging a few more hang ons.  Mark is getting ready to build a ground shooting house on one of our food plots.  We had some severe wind here last night much of our county and surrounding is with out power.  Need to go to the woods to survey the damage. I am sure our wind is no where close to the winds that the past hurricanes have brought with them, the news say we had winds somewhere around 60 to 75 mph. We all have been busy tightening up all our ends for the hunt.  We are looking forward to seeing and meeting all of you on the 26th of October. It looks like we will have around ten people hunting with us that week. The temp's this weekend were very warm and humid not much deer activity during the day, but they were very active in the evening.  As with the rest of the country the corn and soy beans are really starting to turn so plenty of food for them to munch on, not like the farmers like that though. Well until next time be safe. Rob
